The #UgBlogWeek is back, it’s the first for this year and we got a theme. I wanted Choices, but democracy says majority vote wins, so we went forward and steadied our progress with Love and Elections.
Let’s pray;
Father in heaven, I thank you for this new blog challenge, for this week that determines the future of our country, and this day that love is being shown off. We are grateful! Amen
As a Christian the bible is my compass and i get pleased with the lesson I know from it. Today I decided to look up some verses that talk about elections and its processes. I had to look up the word election to get a deeper understanding of it and its origin. Elect, election and elected are from the Greek words of eklektos (picked out, selected, or chosen) and ekloge (a picking out, or selection).
So the few verses I found are;
Exodus 18:21-22 which says “… you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness … and let them judge the people…”,
Prov. 29:2 that guides on which leaders to elect in power, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan”,
Prov. 14:34 that continues to emphasis voting wisely “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people”,
Romans 13:1-4 that lets us know where authority comes”…For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God … For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same. For he is God’s minister to you for good … an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.”,
And 1 Timothy 2:2 that asks us to continuously prayer for our leaders “I exhort … that supplications, prayers, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may live a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.”
Go exercise your right and vote but top it up with prayer that your choice of a leader can deliver and serve you well.
Happy Valentine’s Day.

Thank you. I had forgotten these scriptures… I like the first Exodus 18:21-22 which says “… you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness … and let them judge the people…”,
