My Dream Home…. #Samsung Smart Home Service

My dream home will be displayed at the #CES2014 conference this week.

The Samsung Smart Home Service that enable smart TVs, home appliances, and smartphones to be connected and controlled via a single integrated platform is my dream home.

Samsung hopes to partner with a  third-party vendors to extend this  service to its products and services in hope of dominating the connected world. Below is the statement from the company;

“With Samsung Smart Home, we are bringing our capabilities as the world’s number-one manufacturer of smart devices to make the connected home a reality for consumers today,” said Wonpyo Hong, President, Media Solutions Center, Samsung Electronics.

“In the coming days, we will continue to roll out better home services to our consumers to enable them to keep enjoying a brand-new experience of ‘Smart Living and Beyond.”

This home will have a Device Control, Home View and Smart Customer Service.  These features allow me, the users, to set up customized settings and use them to dedicated apps on my smartphone or my smart TV to control and monitor my home, even when am out of the house. 

Now that is so exciting, I will be able to send a message to my washing machine to start cleaning my laundry and then my  fridge to reduce on the freezing levels.

Also I can program the service to perform multiple tasks with a single command.  Like “Going out.” to the Samsung Galaxy Gear and all my selected connected devices such as the smart TV and lights, Fan will be turned off.  

I can also customize the system for various situations, such as when going to sleep, so that the Thermostats will automatically be adjusted, lights dimmed or turned off, and surveillance cameras turned on.

The other interesting put about this smart home is that it also social chatting between users to communicate with other users and the home itself. About the home, I will be like talking to my home gadgets, giving them commands when I want things on or off.

My only worry is security of the system. I know I need to use a password but surely these have been hacked before.

But I will hold on and wait as I save my Billions of shillings for this dream of mine.
