The 50 years old Isaac Rucci and Dennis Ssempebwa; and 48 years Paul Sserukenya throw us a youthful concert! .
Paul Sserukenya (L) Dennis Ssempebwa (C) and Isaac Rucci (R) These old men of God, didn’t leave any stone un-turned; from their fashion style, to their engaging with the audience, the dance moves and then the most epic of all; their expressive voices and stories.
If you were at the concert you would bear me witness that Dennis is a passionate man, it could be heard in his speech, his singing and dancing moves. Paul is the motivational and free style one with a very interesting story of not accepting to be boxed in one profession. At 36 years, top at his game of a consultant engineer; Paul decided to go back to school, A level to be particular so that he could study Pharmacy and now he is a Pharmacist, Engineer, Life Couch and Singer. While Isaac is the best 50 years old – he was celebrating his birthday during the concert; with a very youthful spirit, lovely vocals and lover of great, prefect and beautiful things.
With 5 album to their name, the LimitX boys/men had us worshiping, praising and dancing throughout the concert. They even made Jennifer Musisi the Executive Director of Kampala City Council Authority lead us in a surprise praise song. (Did you know Aunty Jenny, was in a gospel singing group in her younger days?) Showcased 7 and 10 year old sister and brother’s talents as opening act alongside having Sam K among the back up singers, he brought his energy to the stage – I actually think the concert should have been called LimitX Timeless Concert with Sami K; he was contagious, and his voice as always, lovely.
When Aunty Jenny took on the stage with LimitX I continuously had to consciously ask myself if our current artists could pull off such a concert in 2032, as these guys were doing. Can our current artists’ music measure up to these guys’, to Afrigo band music, to Maddox music and to the Celine Dions, Bill Oceans and Bob Marleys of those days? Can their music pull fans as many as the ones these old folks do pull?? Will they be able to pull our children to attend their concerts and groove to their music? Can the Sami Ks, the Cannan Gents, the Sam Kimeras, the Ruyongas, the Kenneth Mugabis, the Sheebas, the Radio and Weasels of our time pull it off with their now music?
The LimitX crew and the band. I also saw a hunger in the crowd, a hunger for quality and impactful music, a hunger for timeless music, music that speaks to the soul, body and mind. I saw desire, the need for music that doesn’t only move the body but impacts the soul and uplifts the spirit and offers hope, a promise of love and happy times. I saw a starved people, getting off and taking in as much as they could from the concert, because such concerts and good music is hard to find now days.
