So am sited here thinking let me brain storm about something interesting regarding my love for social media. Then it hit me Social Media is boring and its nothing new, it is just socialization with great tools to push it higher and blow it in our faces.
Social media is boring because its a tool to reach, connect and engage people. And as we already know people can be boring almost all the time, (no offense). We engage people who don’t give feed backs, never respond or communicate. Example People never return calls, reply emails or mail, never early for meetings and if early they are not prepared. If some one fails to pick up your call, reply your email what makes you think he will reply your tweet, Direct Message, inbox or post, repin or like your pin.
Social Media being just a tool, we have to look at Social Change. Adopt to change and people like me will not be bored all thorough our Social Media lives because others resisted change.
I like Klout but site bores me to napping on my laptop, its a great site to measure your influences on your social media sites but a boring site to stay there for more than 15 minutes.
And we can announce the premature death of Tumblr/Twitter/Facebook and whoever. But it doesn’t matter we have all deactivated (killed) our accounts once or twice in our social media life, because we were so bored and frustrated it got to us. I have deactivated my Facebook 4 times, i call it going to rehab because i could not take it any more.
Social Media is like a friend who keeps telling you about a nice restaurant (the tools), then tells you about the food and ambiance (the content). Then she/he continues about this new band (tools), then the music and the great guy/lady who is the lead singer (the content). No sooner does she/he finishes about the band than the great book out on sell (the content). This friend never stops until you either kill them or kill them. This friend is a resourceful friend but bores, too informative.
Should you put ads on Facebook? If that’s the worry point, you’ve got bigger worries. Is Pinterest worth your time? Who knows? Should you schedule your tweets? (Some of them!) What’s the company comment policy? Well, okay, that last one has some merit, but put it to rest and move on. Social media is a boring place with full time addicts sharing boring stuff to already unresponsive and ungrateful people.
These are my thoughts, what are yours? Are you bored?
