I always thought, and knew for sure that technology is here to help improve our lives and make them better. This includes all aspects of our lives like finding and sharing information. Google has made sure that all information on almost all topics (we need to add more content about our cultures as Ugandans) is indexed. But then most people have totally failed to utilise this easy to use service.

That will be the first topic for the #PKTechWeekly, of the week of 13th -19th June 2016.

So

Talib Kweli

This American hip hop recording artist, entrepreneur, and social activist went on to tweet that, the LRA “massacred” gays in Uganda.

Yeah!

That well educated young man using the internet went on and defended his tweet.

Let me urge you my readers, please Don’t Be Like Talib Kweli!

Google is your best friend use it. That search engine was created to help you find information of what/ on what you are looking for. Don’t broadcast your ignorance and undermine the great minds that disrupted systems and created Google. Use the engine its free for crying out loud!

I used it  and found information about

Technology in the Bible.

I was looking for what is said in bible about tech and I found some interesting verses, like Genesis 11:6 that says,

“And the Lord said, “Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them.”

The Lord of surprises and power, knew how far we would go, while Matthew 24:14 says

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”

Technology has disrupted how the gospel was shared,  that now days people are receiving it on their TVs, Radios and Phones.

I can’t share all that I learnt but can share the verse that were found like;

  1. Job 28:1-28 “Surely there is a mine for silver, and a place for gold that they refine. Iron is taken out of the earth, and copper is smelted from the ore. Man puts an end to darkness and searches out to the farthest limit the ore in gloom and deep darkness. He opens shafts in a valley away from where anyone lives; they are forgotten by travelers; they hang in the air, far away from mankind; they swing to and fro. As for the earth, out of it comes bread, but underneath it is turned up as by fire.
  2. 2 Chronicles 26:15 In Jerusalem he made engines, invented by skillful men, to be on the towers and the corners, to shoot arrows and great stones. And his fame spread far, for he was marvelously helped, till he was strong.
  3. 2 Timothy 3:17 That the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.
  4.  1 Corinthians 10:31 So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

To God his Glory

And;

Rwanda Mobile phone subscribers are Declining.

Who knew that mobile user can reduce? Rwanda is facing a 0.04% decline in mobile phone subscribers as of April  2016. This is according to a report, via Telecompaper by the Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA).

While the

First ever livestreamed Court Session on Facebook

was done by Uganda’s Barefoot Lawyers, who if you didn’t know use technology to provide free legal information last week  Facebook Live broadcasted a Court case.The court proceedings were broadcast from Lira Chief Magistrate’s Courtroom on Thursday, 16th June 2016 and he live stream ran for an hour and more.

And some huge sums of money are coming to Africa;

$24 million

From The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and what used to be Google Ventures now Alphabet Inc are to fund Andela. This is a startup company that selects the top 1 percent of tech talent from Africa, trains them and places them in engineering organizations.

The startup has nearly 200 engineers currently employed by its Nigeria and Kenya offices, will use the funds to expand to a third African country by the end of 2016.

I am praying this other country is Uganda.

That is will all for this time until next week, stay real good people.

    1. Meanwhile, on the decline in Mobile phone usage… Why?
      I am curious as to why this is the case.

      Is it that the Mobile phone usage has declined or that the customers have moved to Liquid or Airtel?
