I am wondering though, what are they going to do with all that information they are to collect from people who sign up for this free internet? Is there a well thought out planned strategy that aims to use this collected data to deliver the highly needed services to the people its being collected from? After all, technology is here to improve people’s lives. See image below;

Have you ever lost money to mobile money fraud? If not, you are the one that got away – maybe it will catch up with you today, tomorrow, the other day, a year in the future – but you should know that
According to a report Telecom experts attribute the growth of fraud to inability of mobile money agents to use new technologies.
The report by Helix Institute of Digital Finance and Financial Sector Deepening Uganda (FSDU) says Uganda’s fraud rate stands at 53 per cent, closely followed by Tanzania at 42 per cent and Kenya at 22 per cent.

Is the Mobile Money business an East African things? It looks like only Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi plus both Sudans that are invested int his mobile money economy.
Considering that African telecoms giant MTN has canned its mobile money service in South Africa its home country due to difficulties of cracking the financial services market there. The announcement came out on 15th Sept that the company was decommissioning the product “due to a lack of commercial viability.”
Unlike most of Africa, South Africa has a well-established and competitive banking sector. Across the entire continent, MTN’s Mobile Money subscribers grew by 23.3% to seven million last year, according to the company’s
interim results (pdf). The MTN Group has allotted more funds to marketing the product in countries like Cameroon and the Ivory Coast but still this announcement makes MTN the second company to stop Mobile Money services in SA.
Uganda OpenMRS Implementers’ Conference is on this December 6 to 11, 2016
Uganda is proud to host this years OpenMRS Implementor’s conference from December 6 to 11, 2016 at Speke Resort Munyonyo, which will bring together implementors and global community behind this open source electronic medical record system (EMR).
On July 1, 2016, the Ministry of Health signed off the national roll out for UgandaEMR, a custom OpenMRS implementation for Uganda, with plans to upgrade 350 existing installations in the country and addition of ~1000 new sites in 2017.
The initial versions of UgandaEMR are supporting HIV treatment, with new modules planned for Tuberculosis, Maternal and Child Health (MCH).
This conference therefore provides an opportunity for technology professionals, data managers, monitoring and evaluation specialists, and other eHealth stakeholders to get up to speed on what is happening in Uganda and other areas. If you want to sponsor here are the

Delegates attending the recent Healthcare Innovation Summit were told that medical records are being increasingly targeted by cyber criminals – data from the US showed that 89% of healthcare institutions suffered a security breach and were twice more likely to be targeted than other organisations.
In Uganda we are still safe considering we have no well facilitate health system that should freak out about the loss of medical data- papers can’t be hacked, except by fire and water.
SanDisk has unveiled the biggest SD card in the world — a prototype card with an outrageous 1 terabyte of memory. The SDXC card is only a prototype at this point, with no details available on price or release date, but it’s still an impressive milestone. As SanDisk owners Western Digital points out, it was only sixteen years ago that the company introduced its first 64 megabyte SD card, while two years ago they debuted the 512GB card, which was then the world’s biggest. Things have moved fast, though, and compared to the 64MB card, today’s 1TB version offers 16,384 times more storage.
