eBay partners with Mall

A report via Tech Crunch, says online retailer eBay has teamed up with MallforAfrica.com to enable US sellers gain access to Africa’s largest consumer markets. This markets include but not limited to Kenya and Nigeria.

According to the report, the partnership will allow the launch of a new eBay Powered by MallforAfrica dedicated platform – which is set to go live this month (July 2016).

Fernando Saiz, Business Development Director of eBay, stated that the platform will enable inventory from all eBay US individual and business sellers with a 300+ star rating to be purchased by buyers in Africa’s biggest markets.

Oracle was ordered to pay $3bn damages to HP

Electronics firm Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) was awarded $3bn (£2.26bn) in damages in a legal dispute with software giant Oracle.

Oracle reneged on a contractual agreement to continue making software that ran on high-end Itanium chips. The court battle over the contract was settled in 2012 but the damages HPE was due were only set now. Oracle said it would appeal against the court’s decision.

The Future of Online Advertising is Video Ads

We all know mobile technology is evolving, so is mobile display advertising. As already known the most successful ads are those that interest customers and encourage them to take action.

Nowadays, the ads that seem to work best are those that engage consumers and enable consumers to interact with them. This means that the days of using intrusive pop-up ads and banners are pretty much a thing of the past for most applications, while video ads monetization platforms are the present and the future.

Top 10 Strategic Technologies for Government in 2016

“In the digital service economy, government must make strategic investments in IT or risk perpetuating suboptimal business and service models that are financially unsustainable in the long term,” said Mr Howard. “Government CIOs who are too slow to adopt the technology innovations that are transforming private sector service industries will increase business risk and cost, while compromising the mission of their organisations.”

To enable government transformation initiatives, Gartner has identified the top 10 strategic technologies in 2016 and provides recommendations to CIOs and IT leaders regarding adoption and benefits. It is not a list of what government CIOs spend the most time or money on, rather it is a list of strategic technologies that Gartner recommends they should have a plan for in 2016. Find them here.
