Earlier today I wrote about Google Ads on all it gadgets including Next’s thermostats, now news reports say ex-Apple executive and Nest co-founder Tony Fadell say there will not be Ads on his creation.

Tony said that the company’s Nest Learning Thermostats will not be an outlet for such promotions. This assertion comes after Nest was approved by the US government regulator to fix a feature in its Protect Smoke + CO alarms which could potentially prevent the alarms from sounding immediately, reports say.

I have never used the thermostats, but I have seen a number of mock images on how the ads would have looked like and it was kinda worrying for people who would have a connected house.

Anyway Nest has had a problem with it’s thermostat that made it hard for it to sale the product and now it being fixed thus promising to restart Protect sales “in a few weeks” it said.

Now when the Google filing was made, Nest had to come in and protect it’s product and Google has now stated that it made the SEC filing before acquiring Nest, and that the filing did not necessarily reflect its future product plans. Google also claimed that it is in contact with the SEC to correct the language of the filing.

Lets wait and see, the only thing that can stop those ads is if the buying contract between the two has a clause that forbids them. That is what I think….
