Potential is one of the most wonderful words ever. It looks forward with enthusiasm and optimism. It is hope-filled. Surrounded with a promise of success. It’s a possibilities word implying fulfillment with a hint of greatness.
Can you imagine how much potential you have in yourself that you are failing because you are not growing?
During the lockdown, I purposed to use that time to examine and evaluate myself. Then redirect my life in the best way possible as I deemed fit. This doesn’t mean I wasn’t in a good direction, no. It was better but not the best. I realized a number of potentials in me were not being utilized to the best of my abilities hence no real health growth. I was lacking some nutrients that would enable me to move forward in the best direction towards my purpose on this earth.
To attain the mission in my purpose, self-awareness was a necessary ingredient to move me forward and self- reflection. On examining my character, beliefs, skills, relationships, goals, and knowledge I found the gaps that were holding me back from getting on the bus of beautiful accomplishments heading to legacy fulfillment. It was time.
It was my turn to eat on the table of growth and meaningful growth. It was time to start devoting self to exclusively ferret out opportunities that would help me grow in the areas I am weak. Leadership took the highest score of the opportunities to look out for.
Why are we not leading and leading well?

Enters 2021!
The first year of the decade of the twenties. The year with great potential but with very many uncertainties. The systems that be struggling to stabilize from the effects of Covid19, leadership gaps are seen transparently exposing the inconstancies in the former systems.
You could hear a loud call for leaders to take up their positions but as Seth Godin says “it’s uncomfortable to challenge the status quo” mainly if you are leading from the position level of leadership as per John C Maxwell in his book 5 Levels of Leadership.
The old systems are breaking and withering away, what are you doing about that? Are you prepared for the table set for you to eat? It’s your turn to eat but are you equipped well enough for the meal?
It is time to break many rules and become heretics who seek out the best innovative ways to lead and have no fear for resistance. After all, the one in charge doesn’t do any illegal thing. It is now when potential highlights its benefits and benefactors for the decade.
Here I am a student in the school of leadership at Harvest Institute, my self-evaluation and reflections pushed me to invest growth in my potentials if I want to attain the benefits of my purpose and its benefactors.
