Step one: Get in the mood

Step two: Find that good song that amplifies your celebration mood

Step three; Throw your hands in the air and dance. Roll on the floor and shout your lungs out.

Now that is how you celebrate when you win a challenge you have been on for three months.

Three months ago, I started on a saving challenge that tasked me to save 1,500,000 Ugshs for Pallet Furniture for our living room. I have been documenting this here under these blog posts; Delay GratificationSMARTFacing ChallengesGetting back on TrackThe Journey to Achieving Your Target and How to use the Available Resources to Achieve Goals.

As I write this, I already have the full amount of money, and am finally going to pay, fully, for my Pallet Furniture (happy dance). I had paid a deposit as mentioned in this How to use the Available Resources to Achieve Goals and now I am going to make my dream come true (Happy dance emoji).

Now my victory speech;

I would like to thank my readers who have helped me get this far, you guys made this journey worthwhile and the feedback, very encouraging. Then to Barclays  with #AfricaSaves campaign that has helped me keep going through their animated videos and Savings Calculator.

This video Hand vs Heart: How to give up vices and save money helped me to let go of the things I used to spend money on instead of saving it.

I had some challenges as documented in Facing Challengesbut I managed to get through them because I had my eyes set on my target, Pallet Furniture. Getting back on Track was easy with the target in sight and me knowing that I can accomplish it.

The things I have learnt while partaking this challenge are lifetime lessons to keep me saving, not just small money but big monies too. I will be embarking on this journey again in January to save on big monies.

You should start saving for your tomorrow!

This article is the final in a series of sponsored posts for the BARCLAYS SAVINGS CHALLENGE. I hope the challenge has been as interesting and impactful for you as it has been for me. You can follow the discussion on Twitter and Facebook and share your own experience by using the hashtag #AFRICASAVES. Visit the Barclays page for useful savings calculators and information on their savings accounts.
