Question: Have you ever celebrated for seven days?

Like you take off Monday to Sunday to just celebrate, jubilate, rejoice, be thankful, pray, dance, sing, praise and worship the Almighty. Shut, laugh, sing, eat, drink and all the other things done while celebrating, but you do this for 7 full days, have you ever?

Would you want to do this? What are your thoughts about such a thing? Do you think you could pull it off? My friends think, if we could pull off fasting for 21 days, what is rejoicing and celebrating for 7 days?

Well, I am planning to take off time and just celebrate, celebrate the Lord, the Holy Spirit, the life God has given me, the friends and family, the company and clients, the many things, bad or good that could take up this blog.

celebrate

I got this idea a few days ago while reading my bible, in Leviticus 23:39-43 that says

39 “On the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the produce of the land, you shall celebrate the feast of the Lord seven days. On the first day shall be a solemn rest, and on the eighth day shall be a solemn rest.

40 And you shall take on the first day the fruit of splendid trees, branches of palm trees and boughs of leafy trees and willows of the brook, and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God seven days.

41 You shall celebrate it as a feast to the Lord for seven days in the year. It is a statute forever throughout your generations; you shall celebrate it in the seventh month.

42 You shall dwell in booths for seven days. All native Israelites shall dwell in booths,

43 that your generations may know that I made the people of Israel dwell in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.”

God challenged the Israelites to celebrate longer, to celebrate better. That’s like a command to eat cupcakes, drink wine and dance oneself to pain in the feet.

And God didn’t just mandate week long celebrations. He also commanded a yearlong honeymoon for newlyweds (Deuteronomy 24:5). We will talk about this honeymooning thing when its comes but this our God loves us so much that He knows what is good for us.

So I am drawing up a budget for this 7 days celebration, adding in ideas and things to do while I celebrate my Lord. But what would one do in a 7 days of celebration?

I am planning to make this a Kahill tradition, my own way of thanksgiving. No work, no stopping, no falling back, we are going to rejoice until we can’t any more.

We need to celebrate better. Why? Because thus far the Lord has helped us.
